"In successfully using music and dance to explore themes of identity, the removal of barriers, and a present caught between past beauty and future innovation, A Beat of Our Own achieves its writers’ stated goal of expanding the musical theater vocabulary, and probably belongs on Broadway"

Director's Note

A Beat of Our Own (aka Bhangin' It, aka Bhangra Nation) is a captivating and joyous original musical that I've been a part of since 2022. This new work (with a brand new title) has been on an exciting and ever evolving journey of out-of-town tryouts. New works - especially original musicals - require space and time for R&D. A Beat of Our Own is a prime example of a musical that continues to evolve and grow through the process of various readings, workshops, and productions.
