Director's Note

Working with the legendary Rita Moreno and the incomparable late Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, and George Hearn on this concert production at the San Francisco Symphony was mind-blowing. Bernstein’s score soared under the direction of conductor Patrick Summers, and the fusion of opera talents (Jennifer Welch-Babidge and Keith Phares) combined with the musical theatre gifts of the greats mentioned above, created a synergy of performance that brought this gem of a musical to life in flying colors.
