Director's Note

This musical has been a part of my life since 1995 when I was a production assistant on the very first reading in Toronto (and where I also met one of my mentors, the late director Frank Galati). There is so much to say about my adventures on this musical – from the world premiere in Toronto, to the Broadway opening, to directing the premiere West End production, to helming the 25th anniversary reunion concert in 2023.

The show means so much to me on so many levels, but I will leave it to the craft and collaborative genius of the authors, Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens, and Stephen Flaherty for you to draw your own conclusion about Ragtime’s brilliance, relevance and impact.
