Director's Note

I’ve directed two concert productions and two fully staged productions of this musical. The score, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful works in the musical-theatre cannon. Working alongside the authors Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman on both concerts was enlightening and artistically fulfilling. My interpretations have been seen twice in New York City, once at Theatre Calgary and most recently in Tokyo.

No matter where this musical is performed, the audience can’t help but be intoxicated by Mary’s journey and the ravishing score.
