Williamstown Theatre Festival announced that "Poster Boy" (music & lyrics by Craig Carnelia and book by Joe Tracz) will be a part of their summer's Developmental Workshop Series. This new musical was inspired by the events surrounding the 2010 suicide of Tyler Clementi, a Rutgers undergraduate who brought national attention to cyberbullying.
"Allegiance" is headed to Broadway and will begin previews at the Longacre on October 6 with an opening set for November 8. George Takei, Telly Leung and Lea Salonga have been announced to reprise their roles.
"Paradise The Musical" (by Bill Robertson, Tom Sage and Cliff Wagner) will receive a 29-hr reading at The Broad Stage in Los Angeles featuring: Beth Malone, Gwen Hollander, Jonathan Root, Kate Pazakis, Curt Hansen, Jeff Skowron, Landon Beard, Eric B. The York Theatre Company celebrates the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series with the first New York revival of "Saturday Night," with book by Julius J. Epstein and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Stafford Arima, with music supervision by Paul Gemignani, the 15-member cast will feature Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Ben Fankhauser, Lindsay Mendez, Matthew Scott and Margo Seibert.
Bucks County Playhouse has announced the launch of The Oscar Hammerstein Festival, a musical theatre development program focusing on the creation of new musicals. "Thanks!" (written by Gary Adler, Phoebe Kreutz, Regina DeCicco and Lindsey Turner) has been invited to the Festival which kicks off September 26th.
A reading of "The Me Nobody Knows" (music by Gary William Friedman, lyrics by Will Holt, adaptation by Robert H. Livingston and Herb Schapiro based on the book, "The Me Nobody Knows" edited by Stephen M. Joseph) will begin rehearsals in New York City for an industry presentation in mid-September.
