Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty will receive the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre at the 23rd Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala to be held on November 24th in New York City. Stafford Arima will direct the ceremony with musical direction by Dan Green.
The York Theatre Company celebrates the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series with the first New York revival of "Saturday Night," with book by Julius J. Epstein and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Stafford Arima, with music supervision by Paul Gemignani, the 15-member cast will feature Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Ben Fankhauser, Lindsay Mendez, Matthew Scott and Margo Seibert.
Google NYC announced that "Allegiance" would take part in a 'Talks at Google' event, which will be broadcast live on October 29th. The hour-long showcase will be hosted by Sirius XM's Julie James and will include performances by Telly Leung ("Glee"), Melinda Doolittle ("American Idol"), Lindsay Mendez ("Wicked"), Anna Maria Perez de Tagle ("Godspell") and Marc de la Cruz ("If/Then").

Bucks County Playhouse has announced the launch of The Oscar Hammerstein Festival, a musical theatre development program focusing on the creation of new musicals. "Thanks!" (written by Gary Adler, Phoebe Kreutz, Regina DeCicco and Lindsey Turner) has been invited to the Festival which kicks off September 26th.
A reading of "The Me Nobody Knows" (music by Gary William Friedman, lyrics by Will Holt, adaptation by Robert H. Livingston and Herb Schapiro based on the book, "The Me Nobody Knows" edited by Stephen M. Joseph) will begin rehearsals in New York City for an industry presentation in mid-September. A concert featuring highlights from "Tiananmen" (written by Drew Fornarola and Scott Elmegreen) will be presented at 54 Below on March 27th. "Tiananmen" follows the story of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests in Beijing. Performers include: Ruthie Ann Miles, Telly Leung, Karl Josef Co, Jaygee Macapugay, Orville Mendoza, Katie Boren, Billy Bustamante, Ali Ewoldt, Calli Buetow, Kiet Tai Cao, Katie Lee Hill, Eric Badiqué & Toren Nakamura. Music direction and orchestrations are by Rick Fox.
